PURPOSE:To obtain the titled safe controlling agent, containing at least one organic acid selected from citric acid, lactic acid, malic acid, tartaric acid, etc., as an active ingredient and capable of exhibiting effects on insects pests of cucumber, watermelon, melon, green pepper, eggplant, chrysanthemum, etc. CONSTITUTION:A controlling agent against Thrips palmi containing at least one organic acid (especially citric acid and lactic acid) selected from the group of citric acid, lactic acid, malic acid, tartaric acid, gluconic acid, adipic acid, fumaric acid and succinic acid used as food additives in various fields as an active ingredient. This controlling agent is safe and inexpensive without toxic effects on human bodies. No phytotoxicity is caused in human bodies even by continuous spraying. This controlling agent may be used by diluting with water to 700-1,500 times or applied by blending with various chemicals, such as nutriment, penetrant or spreader, normally used in agricultural chemicals.
