PURPOSE:To remove development of longitudinal crack on slab surface by heating molten steel between long side face of a mold and a submerged nozzle with heating means and controlling shape of slab bear. CONSTITUTION:In the case of producing the middle carbon steel slab containing 0.09-0.15wt.% carbon by continuously casting, the molten steel M between the submerged nozzle 1 and the long side face of the mold 2 is heated by a heater 5. The molten steel M at the part is heated and delay of development of solidified shell is prevented and the longitudinal crack can be prevented.
