NICKEL-CHROMIUM ALLOY FOR DENTAL CASTING

PURPOSE:To provide a soft alloy consisting of Cr, Mn, Si, Mo, B and the balance Ni easy to cut and polish, and capable of being meleted with a town gas-oxygen mixed flame. CONSTITUTION:This Ni-Cr alloy for dental casting has a composition consisting of, by wt., 7-15% Cr, =1.0% Mn, 1.0-5.0% Si, 1.0-10% Mo, =0.1% B and the balance Ni. Since this alloy has a relatively low m.p. and low viscosity when melted, it is easily melted with a town gas-oxygen mixed flame and easily cast. Casting defects are hardly caused, and no reject is produced. In addition, this alloy is easy to cut and polish because of low hardness, so that quantity of abrasion of the corresponding natural tooth is reduced during occlusion.
