OIL AND FATS COMPOSITION FOR SUPPRESSING CEREBRAL APOPLEXY ATTACK AT OLD AGE AND REDUCTION IN DISCRIMINATION ABILITY

PURPOSE:To obtain oil and fats composition having life prolonging effects, containing a large amount of alpha-linolenic acid and having the ratio of alpha-linolenic acid and linoleic acid in a specific ratio. CONSTITUTION:An oil and fats composition containing =20wt.%, especially =40wt.% alpha-linolenic acid and having the weight ratio of alpha-linolenic acid and linoleic acid of =1, especially =4. The composition is contained in seed of a plant of the family Labiatae of the order Magnoliatae, plant seed such as linseed or oils and fats such as oil of Perilla frutescens Briton var. acuta Kudo, an linseed oil, an oil of Perilla frutescens Briton japonica Hara or tung oil. The composition is preferably blended with =0.1wt.% antioxidant such as tocopherol in order to prevent oxidation of alpha-linolenic acid.
