The use of substituted N-thiobenzoyl-N'-alkylthio ureas of the formula IMAGE where R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5 independently of one another represent hydrogen, halogen, C1-C4-alkyl, C1-C4-haloalkyl having 1 to 9 halogen atoms, C1-C4-alkoxy, C1-C4-haloalkoxy having 1 to 9 halogen atoms, C1-C3-alkyl- thio, di-(C1-C3-alkyl)-amino, nitro, cyano, phenyl or phenoxy; and R represents C1-C10-alkyl, C3-C6-cycloalkyl or (C3-C6-cycloalkyl)- C1-C4-alkyl for controlling representatives of the order of the Acarina and insects.
