Chemiluminescent acridinium derivatives of the formula I IMAGE in which R4 is a radical of the formula II or III IMAGE and A(-), X-, R1-R3, R5 and R6 have the specified meanings, and processes for the preparation of the compounds of the formula (I) and the use thereof in chemiluminescence immunoassays.
