The invention relates to a process for attaching an auxiliary head rope to a head rope in a fishing net, and to a fishing net which is produced in this way. It is known to sew an auxiliary head rope 4 onto a lead head rope 3, with the auxiliary head rope being placed on the lead head rope. After the attachment point 5 has been sewn, the thread is cut off. According to the present invention, the thread does not need to be cut off if the auxiliary head rope 4 and the lead head rope 3 are placed alongside each other and the sewing machine executes a zig-zag seam 6 at the attachment point 5 and a straight seam along the lead head rope 3 between the said points.
