摘要
The process is intended for cultivating worms in organic starting material (waste) and composting this material through the action of the (increasing) worm population. A main layer of material is formed (in adjoining containers with perforated sides or on conveyor belt between perforated sides in which the population migrates from one end to the other whilst multiplying accordingly and a sec. layer (in containers) communicating with the main layer is formed at the approximate speed of, and in the direction of, worm migration in the main layer. The layers may be moved at a speed equal but opposite to the speed of migration (composted material and population increase in 2 being removed at 3, and fresh material being added at 4). Process is used for cultivating worms, e.g. as protein source for cattle feed, in organic waste to produce compost. The arrangement prevents overpopulation of the organic material thus providing optimum conditions for maximum population increase and for maximum composting action with uniform population distribution. The use of movable containers or of a conveyor belt (6) permits carrying out the operation in a confined space in an environment which can be easily condition e.g. by aeration, heating and/or humdifying.
