Fire resistant cabinet for flammable chemicals - has automatically operated doors and heat-actuated sealing strips

The cabinet (1) has side walls (2), a top panel (3) and double folding doors (5a, 5b) above a lower front panel (4). The doors are connected to one side (7a) of the door frame by hinges. The doors can be operated by a push-button (11) at eye level or by a kick panel switch (10) on the lower front panel (4). The cabinet has a suction channel (9) to extract flammable fumes. The cabinet has an electromagnetically operated opening ram and a cable driven system for pulling the centre of the doors inwards for closing the cabinet. Around the edges of the doors are strips of material which expand and seal the cabinet if exposed to excessive heat. The operation of the doors and locking devices is controlled by a p.c.b. inside the base of the cabinet.
