Railway locomotive and wagon with weedkiller spray system - uses TV cameras and computer to achieve max. efficiency with minimal pollution via EM dosing valves

On the towed wagon or on further wagons are five tanks for liquids containing: concentrated weedkiller (1), spray propellant (2), very dilute propellant (3,4) for use in nature reserves and near reservoirs, and water (5). Flow between the tanks is controlled by electromagnetically operated valves. The final mixture is fed to a control and dosing system (6), where injection pumps (18,19,20) can add small quantities of liquid from dosing supply tanks (A,B,C), before the mixture is fed to spray nozzles (24). The TV cameras on the locomotive (7) feed signals to monitors and a computer, which enable the spraying to be manually or automatically controlled.
