The machine (1) is used for surfacing cycle tracks, footpaths, sports grounds and filling potholes of wheel tracks in roads. It has a container (5) on a two-wheel trailer which supplies a distribution unit comprising conveyor belt (40), a funnel (6) and a hooded horizontal frame with a flexible skirt. Hydraulic levers (23) raise the distributor (33) and swing it to operate either at the side of or in line with the trailer. Material from container (5) passes through outlet (42,43) on to conveyor (40) and is fed into the distributor (33) through the funnel (6) and on to the work surface.
