A method of melting feed materials in electric arc and resistance furnace, especially in the process of mineral wool production, according to which feed materials are continuously loaded into the furnace and continuously melted, as well as slag is continuously discharged and iron alloy is periodically discharged characterized in that the feed is introduced to the furnace tank on the opposite side to the slag's bottom outlet, and during the process of melting, a stem protection layer is continuously maintained in the furnace, such a layer being in the form of liquid iron alloy produced during the process of melting and its minimum thickness amounts to 1/10 of total thickness of liquid slag and iron alloy layers.
