The pane includes a layer of glass or a glass-like material. A fire retardant pigment is put on at least one side of the pare. The pigment is chosen so that at a chosen temperature level the volume increase forms a porous and inertially incombustible substance. This is thermally insulating and limits the thermal penetration of the pore. Pref. the FR pigment is transparent. it can be put on the pane directly by printing, painting etc. or via a support such as a film, fabric etc. e.g. a glan fibre fabric.
