A continuously operable press for manufacturing and/or coating or veneering a one-ply or multi-ply board consisting of wood chips, wood fibres or the like comprises an upper and a lower 6, rotable endless steel belt, the pressing being effected between the upper run of the lower belt and the lower run of the upper belt. The rear faces 9 of the belts 6 rest on an abutment 14 on which is provided a slip lining 13, the slip lining being surrounded by sealing means 23, including a counter-thrust bearing 31, the sealing means preventing escape of liquid lubricant.
