Abstract of the DisclosureA device of this invention is designed for attachinga hooked item for catching fish or the like to a line ofpredetermined diameter with a knot therein. The device isgenerally U-shaped, having first and second side portions andan end portion joining the side portions. The device also hasa first section near the end portion with a width between theside portions at least as great as the diameter of the line, asecond section adjacent the first section with a width betweenthe side portions less than the width of the first section,and a third section adjacent the second section with a widthbetween the side portions at least as great as the diameter ofthe line. The end of one side portion opposite the endportion is joined to the hooked item. A latch is disposedbetween the side portions of the second section. The latchcomprises two latch elements, one latch element being attachedto the inside of one side portion of the second section andthe other latch element being attached to the inside of theother side portion of the second section. The latch elementspermit the line to be pulled from the third section throughthe second section to the first section but prevent the linefrom slipping back from the first section through the secondsection to the third section.
