SHIPPING CONTAINER FOR MAJOR APPLIANCESABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREA shipping container for a household applianceis formed from a straight tube member of triple wall cor-rugated fiberboard without any flaps at either the upperor lower ends. A bottom cap formed from single wall cor-rugated fiberboard has flaps extending upward, overlyingand being adhesively secured to the tube member. A topcap, also of single wall corrugated fiberboard, fits overthe top of the tube member and on three sides has flapportions similar to those on the bottom cap glued to theoutside of the tube member. On the fourth side, the topcap has a triple folded flap portion forming a liftingflange which is held in place by pressure-sensitive tapeextending over the flange and onto the sidewalls overboth the top cap flap portion and the tube sidewall.
