ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREThe invention relates to a kit for detecting the presence of anucleic acid sequence, such as a gene or a gene fragment, in a composition or aspecimen supposed to contain it. The kit comprises a novel probe containing anucleic acid complementary with the nucleic acid sequence or gene which issought. The probe bears at least one 7-iodo-N-2-acetylamino-fluorene groupcovalently fixed at one at least of the bases of this probe. The kit also comprisesantibodies which can react with either N-2-(guanosine-8-yl)-acetylamino-fluorene, or antibodies previously prepared against a nucleic acid sequencemodified by a N-2-acetylamino-fluorene group. The kit of the presentinvention is therefore useful for the systematic research of particularnucleotide sequences in a particular biological system, and even more generally,in any preparation formed in vitro .
