PROCESS AND APPARATUS FOR FRACTIONAL DESUBLIMATION OF VAPOR-PHASE SOLIDS FROM GAS-VAPOR MIXTURES

ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREA process and apparatus for fractional desublimation of vapor-phasesolids from gas vapor mixtures is provided. The invention results in desub-limation of solids from gas-vapor mixtures by immediate cooling of the gas-vapor mixture in a gaseous space which is made possible by the collision ofopposing high velocity streams of gas-vapor mixture and cooling gas.Fractional desublimation of the solids is attained by adjustment of the temper-ature of the cooled gas-vapour mixture. The solid to be desublimed is obtainedwith high yields and purity. The simplicity of the apparatus and the fact thatdesublimation does not take place on cooled surfaces allows for low-cost,troublefree operation.
