The invention relates to an assay for determining the efficacy of vaccination of a patient in need thereof against an autoimmune disease and to means for carrying out such assay.;Vaccinations are carried out by means of activated treated T cells, or membranes of these or fragments of such membranes. The assay according to the invention is in the form of a skin test or in the form of a proliferative assay in vitro carried out on peripheral leucocytes of the patient which determines either one or both of the anti-idiotypic T cell responses or the anti-activated indicator cell response.
