Small bone plate (20), in particular for the treatment of fractures and osteotomies of the skull and facial bones and of small fragments of other skeletal areas, having screw-hole borders (22) for receiving bone screws and, between the screw-hole borders, narrowed bridges (21), at least part of the bridges (21) having a cross-sectional area which is equal to or smaller than twice the cross-sectional area of the screw-hole border (22), and the bridges (21) merging into the screw-hole borders in an arc of a circle. The radius of the transition from bridge to screw-hole border is dimensioned so small that, if the bone plate is bent in its plane to such an extent that the borders of adjacent holes meet one another, it is essentially only the bridges (21) that are deformed.
