An aqueous solution containing salts or complex compounds of the metals of the iron group of the periodic table, of magnesium or calcium or mixtures of these salts or complex compounds in a concentration not exceeding 50 mmol/litre, which because of their low breakthrough threshold as irrigation liquid in the destruction of deposits extraneous to the body in human or animal tissues or body cavities by means of shockwaves and cavitation generated by pulsed laser radiation, especially in the infrared range, is provided.
