A device (1) for controlling level compensation, in particular on a mobile extensible fire service turntable ladder (2), is provided with an analogically operating inclination sensor (5) on the upper implement superstructure (4). In an operating position of an undercarriage (3), which is in particular positioned at an angle, of the fire service turntable ladder (2), the value of the inclination sensor (5) is stored before adjustment of the vertical of the implement superstructure (4). After a control process which moves the implement superstructure (4) into the vertical, the stored value is used again as return control variable in order to return the vertical implement superstructure (4) into its starting position parallel to the undercarriage (3).
