Refining method of high purity squalene in shark liver oil

The process for preparing purified squalane from sharkliver comprises: (a) decolorizing and deoxidizing sharkliver and distilling to obtain crude squalane; (b) adding 2-3 parts of saturated potassium hydroxide soln. to 100 parts of crude squalane and mixing at 150C; (c) cooling the above mixture and adding 10 parts of water to the cooled mixture; (d) mixing the mixture containing water, removing the water-layer and adding 0.1-0.2 parts of sodium; (e) mixing the above mixture at 145-150C and distilling to obtain purified squalane; (f) adding methanol or ethanol to the purified squalane and boiling for 20-30 mins.
