Method and apparatus for environmentally benign disposal of the wastewater obtained in the olives pressing

The waste water (effluent) arising from the pressing of olives is disposed of in an environmentally-friendly manner by evaporating the waste water in a stream of unsaturated air from the atmosphere, in which process the waste water is atomised in a tower and the air is fed through the tower in counter-current to the waste water. The concentrate obtained by evaporation has a solids content of 30 to 50% and is fed to a drying stage in order to obtain the organic matter contained in the waste water in the form of powder.
