Composition for preventing the absorption of heavy metals consumed with the diet

A composition is described for preventing the absorption of heavy metals. By means of surface-modification of divinylbenzene cross-linked porous polystyrene with triphenyl phosphate and/or triphenylphosphine sulphide, it is possible both to complex heavy metal ions and to convert them into sparingly soluble and thus non-absorbable heavy metal sulphides.
