The invention relates to a balance-head for balancing fast-rotating machine spindles, especially grinding machine spindles. The head has two balance weights which are designed as circular ring-shaped balance-discs arranged concentrically with each other. Each of these balance-discs carries a drive motor, which is so positioned that the drive shaft motor carried by the outer balance-disc runs tangentially to the inner balance-disc and the drive shaft of the other motor runs tangential to the hub, the coupling of the motor drive shaft to the inner balance-disc and to the hub being designed as a worm drive. It is advantageous to produce the inner and outer balance-discs as two discs which are permanently connected to each other, the plane of separation of these discs running perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the spindle. By so doing, the two electric motors are clamped between the two discs of the inner and outer balance-discs.
