For the construction, independently of terrain, of a continuous prestressed-concrete bridge in a plurality of stages with a construction section of span width, use is made of supporting scaffolding situated thereabove, which spans from one pier to the next and is at the same time supported on the last finished stage. The individual stages can consist of mix-in-situ concrete or of a group of lined-up precast parts (segments). Here, the stages are constructed successively only in the advancing direction of the scaffold. This falsework or erecting scaffolding is designed as a spanned temporary bridge with a tower which is mounted fixedly thereon and, in the working position, is situated above the pier in front of the construction section to be constructed. Individual stage ends are connected to the top of the tower by means of tension members and from there to the finished superstructure above the projecting pier. By controlling and monitoring the forces in the individual tension members, the stresses on the superstructure are minimised, so that the material requirement for the latter is no greater than in the case where a construction section is produced in one piece.
