Special tracheal tube connector especially suitable for the accurate weighing of artificially ventilated premature babies and neonates in an incubator

The invention describes a special tracheal tube connector which permits accurate and extremely simple determination of the body weight, especially of artificially ventilated premature babies and neonates in an incubator, without interruption of the artificial ventilation with the aid of an electronic weighing device according to DE 3534559 A1. The weighing device comprises a lifting device in conjunction with an electronic precision balance which permits the total weight of the incubator plus its contents to be weighed accurately and subsequently the body weight to be read off directly as the weight difference by manually lifting the child without touching the incubator. The compressive, tensile and shearing forces which occur on the tracheal tube and adapter on lifting the ventilated child and which would considerably falsify the result of weighing are substantially eliminated by the highly flexible adapter piece of the special tube connector.
