The invention relates to a sheet covering for dry application to a wall-like substrate, in particular wallpaper for dry wallpapering, consisting of a carrier element which carries an adhesive coating on the principal surface which lies on the substrate, which coating possesses long-term tackiness. The adhesive coating comprises a mixture of adhesive and air cavities, this adhesive foam being applied to the carrier element with the formation of a sheet-like layer, in particular in a pattern of islands and/or a linear formation. The adhesive, in the form of a dispersion, and the air cavities, as a dispersion foam in the form of microbeads filled with a propellent gas, form an intimate mixture as an elastic adhesive foam which on foaming provides long-term adhesion.
