Process and appliance for mechanical production of box-less casting mould sections consisting of facing sand and filler sand containing environmentally safe binders

The mechanical manufacture is presented of casting moulds, especially of cylindrical moulds having a mould area of less than 1 m2, according to the two-sand method. This involves using the facing sand and the core sand, respectively, only in very thin layers in the moulds and the cores, and filling in (backing up) with reprocessed filler sand (backing sand, back-up sand). The binders used for the various sands are limited to environmentally safe, non-toxic substances, specifically preferably inorganic clay binders and water-glass binders. However, it is also possible to use demonstrably non-hazardous organic binders, e.g. the duroplastics cured with reaction gases such as methylformate or acetate. The invention provides for a considerable reduction in used-sand landfilling costs.
