Foldable boom for simple, rapid sail tensioning and joining the mast and boom without a length of rope

In order to reduce the expenditure of energy and time and to simplify the rigging operation of a sailboard rig, use is made of a foldable boom (4) which is fitted with four joints (7, 8, 9 and 10). In the folded-up state (Fig. 1), the mast (1) is inserted into the front joint (12 and 13), of pincer-type design, of the boom (4), and the sail (2) is suspended loosely in the suspension (3) provided for the purpose. When the boom is subsequently folded back (Fig. 3), a force-closed and self-closed joint is produced between the mast (1) and boom (4), and the sail is simultaneously tensioned in the boom.
