In a coin counting and sorting arrangement with a device for separating foreign coins, a horizontal coin plate delivers the coins individually onto an approximately tangentially adjoining horizontal guide path, in the inlet region of which an arrangement for identification of a given type of coins is arranged. A separating element is provided, which in the event of identification of a coin other than the given type diverts this foreign coin from the guide path which consists of a guide edge, a guide strip and a support rail. The region between the guide strip (10) and the support rail (cf. edge 13) is designed as the separating switch which guides the foreign coins away from the guide path (7) and in the extension of which an arrangement for receiving separated foreign coins is provided.
