The tube system of a superconducting cable includes at least one rigid inner tube, in which there is arranged at least one superconducting conductor core with an oxide-ceramic high-temperature superconductor material, which core is cooled by a corresponding cooling medium. The inner tube is concentrically enclosed by a rigid outer tube, the intermediate space between inner tube and outer tube being evacuated. To avoid technical cooling problems owing to eddy currents in metallic tube parts and to permit a simple cable construction, it is provided that at least the inner tube (3) consists of a vacuum-tight and coolant-tight polymer material. The outer tube (4) is advantageously also produced from this material. IMAGE
