摘要

High-temperature superconducting power cables are used as an effective method for increased power transfer of electrical grids. In this paper a model for calculating the efficiency of the cooling system of high-temperature superconducting power cable is presented. The thermal flows from environment to cryogenic cable core at non-loaded electrical cable under forced nitrogen circulation could be determined by the developed model. The AC power cable is analyzed by transient model solved by finite element method. Results for conductive heat fluxes in cable solid and fluid material layers are obtained and presented. Discussion on design methods for thermal insulation improvement is also made.
