A piece of jewellery consists of a setting part, into which at least two glass sheets are inserted, which enclose between them at least partially one or more jewellery parts. As a result of the free view thus brought about onto the gemstone(s), the impression is created that the gemstone is floating freely in the setting part. By using a number of parallel glass sheets and correspondingly a number of gemstones held at different heights, the impression of the free floating can be further increased by a corresponding optical depth staggering.
