A new and potent coil growth inhbitory substance has been obtained from the South American tree, Rollinia mucosa. This substance has been named Rolliniastatin 1. Physical and chemical parameters are disclosed including is ability to strongly inhibit growth of the NCI P388 lymphocytic leukemia. Pharmaceutical preparations are described containing Rolliniastatin 1, its synthetic counterpart and the non-toxic pharmaceutically active derivatives thereof as the essential active ingredient therein.
