The invention relates to the length-controlled delivery of a warp thread to a textile machine having a computer-controlled drive motor of the warp beam. Pulse generators supply thread-length signals and principal-wave signals to the microcomputer. A computer output controls the drive controller of the warp-beam motor. According to the invention, there is arranged in the thread run between the warp beam and the processing station a further intermediate thread store, the adjustable thread-guide element of which is assigned an adjusting drive possessing a servomotor. The microcomputer additionally has an input for the position signals of the distance-measuring system on the adjustable thread-guide element and an output which is connected to the servomotor for the purpose of activating the drive controller of the latter.
