DNA with genetic information of glutamine synthetase and use thereof

A DNA which comprises a base sequence which encodes a specific amino-acid sequence of a structural polypeptide of glutamine synthetase is described. Also described is the transformant which harbours this DNA, and a polypeptide which has been prepared by expression of the genetic information in this DNA by means of the said transformant, and a process for the preparation of a polypeptide of this type. The process represents an efficient method for producing high-purity glutamine synthetase and comprises the cultivation of a transformant which has the said DNA, which is foreign to the host microorganism, to bring about expression of the genetic information of this DNA by the transformant and collection of the structural polypeptide of glutamine synthetase from the culture broth.
