The floating platform (100) has a hull (102) with a superstructure (106) supporting a hoist (312) at the top. A central opening (103) in the hull is used to lower the vertical pipes. A lowered pipe (200) is clamped at its upper end in a table (302). The table is suspended by ropes (304) from the superstructure and constrained laterally by a spring system (390). The hoist block and hook (350) has a cross beam with vertical end tubes through which pass the suspension ropes of the table. ADVANTAGE - Upper and lower pipe sections maintain perfrect alignment during movement of the rig.
