Assembly and publication of these tables were initiated by the Canals and Pipelines Section of the Canals Branch to expedite hydraulic computations for pipeline water distribution systems. Velocities, velocity heads, and retardation losses per thousand feet of pipe are given for pipe capacities range from 0.05 cubic feet per second in the 4-inch pipe to 790 cubic feet per second in the 120-inch pipe.
