The invention relates to the manufacture of articles wired using machines with an intake and rotary traction mechanism. The device forming the subject of the invention comprises a body 2 in which are housed jaws 3 having longitudinal grooves 4 which form a channel 5 for the passage of a semi-finished product. Each jaw 3 has an inclined bearing surface 6, which cooperates with the inner surface 7 of the body 2, the acute angle alpha of inclination with respect to the axis of the channel 5 is equal to that of the surface 6 of each jaw 3 which cooperates with said surface. The jaws 3 are mounted so as to be able to move along the surface 7 of the body 2 and are clamped against it by means of an elastic element 8. The invention finds its application, in particular , in the manufacture of thin steel cables for use in remote control devices and systems. / P
