Method of characterizing the coking tendency of a baseoil, by:P P(a) exposing the baseoil to conditions which accelerate asphaltene formation in the baseoil; andPP(b) testing for the onset and/or progression of asphaltene formation as a function of time.PPThe technique is also useful for determining the efficacy of oil additives.
