NITRIC ACID-RESISTANT AUSTENITIC STAINLESS STEEL AND APPARATUS FOR PLANT IN THE USE OF THE ABOVE STEEL

PURPOSE:To obtain the title stainless steel showing good corrosion resistance in the soln. of nitric acid having strong oxidizing characteristics by forming it with the compsn. contg. each specific content of C, Mn, Cr, Ni, Al and O and contg. P and Si whose content satisfies specific relationship. CONSTITUTION:The nitric acid-resistant austenitic stainless steel is formed from the compsn. contg., by weight, =0.03% C, 1 to 2% Mn, 15 to 30% Cr, 8 to 20% Ni, =0.03% Al and =0.05% O, satisfying =0.2% Si+5XP and the balance substantial Fe. As for the corrosion resistance of the stainless steel, =0.05mm/year corrosion speed in the corrosive environment of 9 defined soln. of nitric acid contg. 100ppm Ru at 100 deg.C is shown. The stainless steel is used for a waste soln. storage tank, a waste soln. concentrating and evaporating can, an acid recovering and evaporating can, an acid recovering and fractionating tank for an atomic fuel retreating plant, etc., by which the nitric acid resistance of each apparatus for a plant can be increased.
