PURPOSE: To provide a binder composition of the present invention suitable for a binder to impart high strength joining for various aggregates or the like by curing in an ambient temperature, which comprises a blend of a specific poly(orthomethylolated) phenolic compound, a novolac resin and the like. ;CONSTITUTION: (A) a poly(orthomethylolated) phenolic compound having molecular weight lower than 320 and containing at least two methylol groups in ortho- positions of hydroxyl groups, (B) a phenol formaldehyde novolac resin and (C) an alkalizing agent to supply an alkali ion (example: potassium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide or the like) are blended at 1:1-0.7:1 of molar ratio of alkali : phenol group in a composition and at 1:5-1:2 of weight ratio of A:B based on dry solid content. (D) water and (E) an ester-functional curing agent (example: Lyton or the like) are blended thereafter by 3-25 wt.%.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO
