DEVICE FOR COUNTING NUMBER OF PASSENGERS WHO BOARDING AND ALIGHTING ON AND FROM TRAIN

PURPOSE:To make it possible automatically totalize the number of passengers at each of stop positions on the entire line by arranging a pair of passenger detectors and a stop position passing detector in a vehicle along an entrance way. CONSTITUTION:A door side sensor 6 and an inboard side sensor 7 as a pair of passenger detectors are embedded with a predetermined space therebetween on both side walls of an entrance way 1 connected to an entrance 2 of a bus. Further, a bus stop passing detector 9 for detecting the closing of a door 5 is arranged on one side of the entrance 2. The sensors 6, 7 delivers passenger detection signals to a boarding and alighting determining section 10 which determines whether a passenger who has passed the entrance way is a boarding person or an alighting person, and which delivers the result of the determination to a boarding counter 12 or an alighting counter 13 in a passenger number counting section 11. Further, there is provided a bus stop number counter 14 for counting a number of passing detector signals from the bus stop passing detector 9, in the counting section 11. Then counting numbers from the counters 12, 13 and the bus stop number counter 14 are delivered to a file 16 for totalizing the number of passengers at each stop position, formed in an external memory device 15a.
