PURPOSE:To obtain the fat and oil component adsorbent, fat and oil component adsorber and fat and oil component adsorbing device which are small in scale, inexpensive and easy to handle and the method for cleaning waste water contg. fat and oil components by using carbon grains formed by roasting fine vegetable pieces. CONSTITUTION:The fat and oil component absorbent consists of the carbon grains formed by roasting the fine vegetable pieces. The fat and oil component adsorber is formed by packing such carbon grains into a container having an aperture. The fat and oil component adsorbing device is constituted by adjacently disposing the carbon grain layer 4 and the fine vegetable piece layer 3, holding the layers by water permeable holding members 2, 5, and providing a waste water inflow port 1a and a container bottom plate 1b which constitutes a treated water discharge port on the carbon grain layer side and the fine vegetable piece layer, respectively. The method for cleaning the waste water contg. the fat and oil components is executed by passing the waste water through the carbon grain layer. The carbon grains act as the good fat and oil component adsorbent in the above. The scale and the cost are reduced and the handling is facilitated.
