REWRITE TYPE OPTICAL DISK AND OPERATION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To reduce the writing power and to shorten an erasing time by forming a film to be a heating body, which is provided with an electrode be energized from an external power source at the time of writing and erasing operations, in a laminated structure constituted on the transparent substrate of an optical disk. CONSTITUTION:An outer peripheral electrode 5a electrically connected to a film 3 to be the heating body in the outer periphery of an optical disk 6 and an inner peripheral electrode 5b electrically connected simlarly in the inner periphery are provided in the laminated structure constituted on a transparent substrate 1 of the optical disk 6. By energizing to the film 3 to be the heating body from the external power unit through the outer peripheral electrode 5a and the inner peripheral electrode 5b to raise the temperature of an information recording film 2 arranged in contact with the film 3 to be the heating body. Thus, the writing power of the rewrite type optical disk for which thermal write and thermal erase are fundamental processes is reduced, and information is stably written and erased even when the erasing time is shortened.
