PURPOSE:To correct spectral characteristics in a wide wavelength region by making the output of a stimulation side spectroscope incident on a photodiode of known characteristics and correcting fluorescent stimulating spectra by using the output of this photodiode. CONSTITUTION:The dependency of the quantum efficiency (photocurrent/incident light quantity) on wavelength in the case of using a silicon photodiode as the photodiode 200 decreases in sensitivity at 275 and 370nm and is of the approximately constant value of 65 to 67% from 450nm up to 980nm. The fluorescent stimulating spectrum is proportional to the absorption spectrum if the yield of the fluorescent quantum is constant without depending on the stimulating wavelength and the intensity of the stimulating light is known. The stimulating light spectrally divides the light from a 150W Xe short arc lamp by a spectroscope 20 of 25cm focal length. The light emitted from a sample is condensed by two pieces of quartz lenses from the direction perpendicular to the stimulating light and is spectrally divided by the spectroscope 30 of 60cm focal length. The light is detected by a photoelectron multiplier T-photon counter. As a result, the absorption spectrum curve of a standard fluorescent soln. and the fluorescent stimulating spectrum curve agree with each other well.
