REACTIVE SURFACTANT AND POLYMER LATEX USING THE SURFACTANT AS EMULSIFIER

PURPOSE:To obtain the title surfactant having excellent dispersing performance and emulsifying performance and low frothiness by using an aminoalkane sulfonate obtained by sulfonating a maleic ester contg. an allyl or methacrylic group in the molecule. CONSTITUTION:The materials shown by formulas I-IV are used as the reactive surfactant [where R1 is a hydrocarbon group, R2 is a hydrocarbon group having an allyl or methacrylic group, A is a 2-4C alkylene group, (m), (n), and (p) are a real number of 0-100, R3 is H or a lower alkyl group, (l) is 0 or 1, R4 is 1-8C alkylene group or phenylene group, R5 is a hydrocarbon group having an allyl group or a methacrylic group, and M1 and M2 are a metal or an amine]. The surfactant has excellent dispersing performance and emulsifying performance and low frothiness, and good polymerization stability and mechanical stability are imparted especially to a polymer by the surfactant.
