PURPOSE:To correctly translate a Japanese noun compound word into an objective language noun compound word by dividing the inputted Japanese noun compound word into every word by using a Japanese language analyzing dictionary. CONSTITUTION:A word construction analyzing device 2 divides a solid-written Japanese noun compound word 1 into the word of the longest unit registered in a dictionary 12 as soon as possible by using the Japanese language analyzing dictionary 12. Then, information necessary for subsequent analysis/translation is taken out from the dictionary 12 and given to each word, and simultaneously, a relational function between respective words is determined. The indexes of all the words of the word-divided compound word 1 are combined into one word, and it is retrieved whether this word is registered in a dictionary 13 for Japanese language-objective language conversion or not. When it is registered, subsequent translation processing is carried forward while considering it one word. Thus, as for the Japanese noun compound word, correct translation in the objective language can be obtained.
